ABFF’s pop-up gives Washington its own chapter
Film screenings and a screenwriting masterclass marked the tour’s Washington debut.
ABFF announced its first Washington pop-up for September 25–27 at Angelika Pop-Up in Union Market. The published program paired screenings with a New York Film Academy screenwriting masterclass, bringing the festival’s 30th-anniversary tour into a local cinema setting.
The announcement listed Three Colors: Pan African on opening night, The Heir by local filmmaker Tia A. Smith on September 26, and Black Is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story on September 27. These selections make the weekend more specific than a generic film-event label. This account describes the organizer’s program rather than claiming attendance, interviews or a verdict on films City Mix has not reviewed.
