Home Rule puts the local calendar first

The Home Rule Music Festival’s 2026 event calendar identified June 20 at The Parks at Walter Reed. Its broader June programming also included a Sun Ra film event and a Doug Carn engagement, placing the outdoor festival within a sequence of music-centered occasions.

That structure is useful context for an archive often dominated by touring headliners. Home Rule’s Washington setting makes room for the city’s own music institutions and cultural life. The dates here come from the organizer’s published calendar; the retrospective does not assign performances to the June 20 stage unless the source identifies them or claim a personal view from the festival grounds.
