Otakon crosses the July–August line
The convention began in this edition and continued into the next month.
Otakon’s 2026 dates were July 31–August 2 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. DowntownDC’s event record places the anime, gaming and Asian pop-culture convention in Washington, with an opening date inside the second July edition and two days in August.
Keeping the full date range is more useful than forcing a three-day event into one month. It also separates this historical entry from an organizer homepage that may now promote a later year. This retrospective documents the convention’s place in the local calendar; it does not identify cosplay subjects, panels attended or original photographs without supplied material.
