Documentary stories fill a June weekend
The documentary festival offered a concentrated alternative to the summer concert calendar.
DC/DOX’s 2026 festival ran June 11–14. DowntownDC’s event record identifies the four-day documentary gathering, placing nonfiction filmmaking alongside the outdoor music dates in this edition.
Documentary festivals offer a different kind of cultural itinerary: the subject of a film can carry viewers beyond the city even when the screening is local. For a retrospective, the festival dates and program are the reliable starting points. This story does not invent a favorite film, a filmmaker conversation or an audience response. Readers looking for a particular screening should follow the linked event record and the festival’s own program materials.
